Rolling Hills Adventist Church News, April 13

*|MC:SUBJECT|*
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, 25 not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

If the State of California mandated staying home for spiritual reasons, we might want to meet anyway, like some churches have done.  But it is for health reasons.  And complying, for public safety, is good religion.

But what about this need to meet together?  I miss all of you very much.  And since we cannot be together, we have found ways to ‘encourage one another’.  Mostly it is by telephone and computer, “Zoom” meetings. (See below, in “News” a note on how to meet by “Zoom”.)

God is keeping His believers spiritually healthy.  And if you feel a little spiritually down Then call someone who will pray with you, and share a promise from the Bible.

Be well, especially spiritually!

Pastor Albert
John 3: 5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”
This text will be the subject of our Mid-week Bible Fellowship
  • Due to the contagious COVID-19, church is closed until it is safe to open.
  • If you need groceries, other supplies, or other types of assistance, please don't hesitate to contact your church family in regards to how we can help you.
Greetings from Members:  Please write and say hello to everyone!  Some of you have written me notes, and I like hearing from you, but I feel I should have your permission to share your remarks with everyone else.

Please write a note.  Address your remarks to: “Dear Church Family…” And I will include them in upcoming Newsletters.  Tell us what you’re doing to ‘Shelter in Place’, and how you are nurturing your Faith, and ‘Sheltering your Peace”.

March Finances: Darlynne Markovic, Church Treasurer, says our giving has dipped low in the Month of March.  We have received 1/3 to ½ of what is usual.  So, we have taken some cost cutting measures.

Please, if you can, remember our church’s ministries and needs.  If you mail your donation to us, please mark it as an “Offering”.  I will make sure to put it in the safe, along with our donation, for the Treasurer to open.  Or, use the “Adventist Giving” site by computer. We put the link in a special box, towards the bottom.

ONGOING:

100 Days of Prayer:  This is a World Church call to prayer.  By email, once per day, I get a reminder to pray, scripture promises to claim, a devotional thought, and the opportunity to join others in prayer and fellowship.  If you are looking for a daily devotional this is a great place to start.

To sign up: http://www.revivalandreformation.org/100days

Financial Help:  The Church Board has set aside funds to help those in our church family who have been financially impacted by the pandemic.  If you would like to receive such help, please contact one of the Elders directly (Betsy Adams, Raymond Barnes, Janet Barnhill, Janet Lui, Dahlma Osborne), or call me, Pastor Albert, at the Church Office.  There are details and a process so that this will be confidential and smooth.

Reach Your Pastor: I am forwarding the church phone (310/541-1819) to my home phone (424/206-2949) and though it often has bad reception you can call my cell phone (626/826-8448) or text me.  Email works, too: albertfrederico@gmail.com

Ongoing ‘Zoom’ Services:  More and more are joining our meetings.  It isn't that difficult!  You can do it.

By Phone: Dial one of the phone numbers.  You will be asked to enter the Meeting ID and then the Password.  The 'host' will welcome you by name and may even 'flip a switch' and ask you a question for all to hear.  You do not have to speak up.  Just say, "I Pass", and the host will move on to someone else.

By Computer or 'Smart' Phone:  Copy the address to your browser, and follow the directions. Remember to sign in with the ability to use your speaker.  The host will mute you until and unless you are asked a participation question.

Remember, back ground noise disturbs the meeting (that's why we mute everybody, at first) and if your camera is "on", we can see what you are doing, whether it is eating breakfast or ... something embarrassing!

Our Mid-Week Bible Study (Wednesdays, 7:00 p.m.) is full of fellowship and personality.  Our Sabbath Morning Adult Lesson (10 a.) and Homily (11 a.) We share our highs and lows, viewpoints and scripture promises, and pray requests.  Here is the connection information.  Please note that a password is required (it is our address, plus the number 7)

The month-long series, entitled Revelation Today: Hope Awakens, will feature Pastor John Bradshaw and present the prophetic message of the Bible while speaking to hearts burdened by anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. The interactive meetings will be viewable on mobile devices and online. Individuals are encouraged to register for the series at hopeawakens.com.

I encourage you to write a thoughtful note to your friends and family inviting them to join!
