In the morning, Lord, you hear my voice;
in the morning I lay my requests before you
and wait expectantly.

Psalms 5:3

I felt very badly for my friend and church member as I visited them in the hospital.  His condition was digestive, an attack of pancreatitis.  He couldn’t eat and was very weak.  With great frustration and perhaps some despair they asked me, “What can I do, Pastor? I just lie here doing nothing; I’ve even counted the ceiling tiles.”  (There were 47, as I recall.)

I quickly searched for something to say.  Nothing came to mind.  But I said, “Wait…” I regretted it almost immediately.  It seemed so lame.  I wanted to offer more.  I had a sincere prayer for them and retreated.

The next day, when I visited again, they said, “You know, when you said ‘wait’?  I actually think that is the best answer.  I can’t do anything else.  I will ‘wait on the Lord’.

Me too.

15Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will grow to become in every respect the mature body of him who is the head, that is, Christ. 16 From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.
Ephesians 4:15, 16

Guest Speaker This Sabbath: Pastor Mitch Williams implemented a program in his church that successfully continues today.  He wrote it up in his book, “The Inviting Church”.  It is much more than a small group plan.  He describes it in a concise way: Equipping disciples to plan, invite, and host outreach events with 6 Weeks of Small Groups.

I have read it carefully and want to be ready to use, in my personal ministry, the principles that he uncovers.  I am giving the book to those Church Board members and Outreach Team members who are joining together in getting ready to reopen our church.

Junior Guides: I just mailed out these magazines for the Junior Class.  Please look for them in the mail.

Reopening Time: Sometimes a neighbor, walking on our property, will stop and talk a while.  Recently, a few of them have asked why we don’t just go ahead and reopen.

The quick and easy answer is that there would be other neighbors who would be offended if we did.  We hear reports of a person not wearing a mask in a store; they get berated for their neglect.  Should we reopen our church before official guidelines (whether Government or Church Conference) we could possibly offend those around us who are being careful.  We will wait.

At this writing, estimates range from  1½ months to 3 months before we will be able to reopen.
It Is Written Online Meeting:

It Is Written will conduct a virtual, online evangelistic event starting April 17 that will reach all of North America. Over 600 churches have joined with us in online advertising, and thousands have already registered for the meetings.

The month-long series, entitled Revelation Today: Hope Awakens, will feature Pastor John Bradshaw and present the prophetic message of the Bible while speaking to hearts burdened by anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. The interactive meetings will be viewable on mobile devices and online. Individuals are encouraged to register for the series at hopeawakens.com.

I encourage you to write a thoughtful note to your friends and family inviting them to join!

1 I waited patiently for the Lord;
he turned to me and heard my cry.
2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
and gave me a firm place to stand.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a hymn of praise to our God.
