I am impatient for us to be together again. We have work to do, and I believe the small components of that work are ready to assemble. To me, it’s like baking bread. We have the recipe, the ingredients, the oven and all the implements; the time is right because our neighbors are hungry.
So, I am repeating some of the Sabbath morning message because I do not want anyone to be left out that could be part of what we need to do. We need to let our light shine:
Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I used to think of ‘light shining’ as a passive activity. After all, a light just sits there in the lamp, shining when the switch is flipped to “On”. But the context (something we’re learning about in our Adult Sabbath School Lesson), says more. The KJV version puts it this way, “Let your light so shine…”
This makes ‘shining’ more of an ‘active’ verb. We have to modulate, moderate and focus our light for a particular result: our ‘good works’ result in men (outsiders) praising God.
Many years ago, lighthouses had an identifying pulse. For example, one would pulse two quick beams, but another would pulse one long beam. A ship captain could then know where he was located and steer safely.
However, in a certain location, thieves would sometimes alter the lighthouse signal to mimic a different location. The ship, fooled by this, would steer onto rocks and be lost. The thieves would then scavenge the wreckage for ‘loot’.
Our light can be presented in such a way as to entice or repel those around us who are seeking God.
Be Blessed! Then be a Blessing…

Romans 8:26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
This passage will be the subject of our Mid-week Bible Study

Due to the contagious COVID-19, church is closed until it is safe to open.
If you need groceries, other supplies, or other types of assistance, please don't hesitate to contact your church family in regards to how we can help you.
Our Building Committee is meeting to consider options and developments to our building plan. The quarantine has meant a marked slowdown in getting our previous plans approved. And, our parking lights project has been delayed by 3 or 4 months already, but could begin in June. We will have more to say about this as the overall picture develops.

Announcements:
Southern California Conference COVID 19 Relief Fund (Quoted from a Letter to Churches):
The Southern California Conference recognizes the financial strain that work restrictions have placed on many people throughout the conference as a result of COVID-19 shelter-in-place recommendations. In an effort to provide financial assistance to those most in need, the Southern California Conference would like to ask you to partner with us as, together, we grow a financial assistance fund that will help those who need it most at this critical time. This relief fund is intended to assist members who can demonstrate that, as a direct result of COVID-19, they have experienced a loss of income from the following: Job Loss; Job Furlough or Reduced Work Hours.
Contributions to this fund can be made through the Adventist Giving website (see below).
Financial Help: The Church Board has set aside funds to help those in our church family who have been financially impacted by the pandemic. If you would like to receive such help, please contact one of the Elders directly (Betsy Adams, Raymond Barnes, Janet Barnhill, Janet Lui, Dahlma Osborne), or call me, Pastor Albert, at the Church Office. There are details and a process so that this will be confidential and smooth.
Reach Your Pastor: I am forwarding the church phone (310/541-1819) to my home phone (424/206-2949) and though it often has bad reception you can call my cell phone (626/826-8448) or text me. Email works, too: albertfrederico@gmail.com
It Is Written Online Meeting:
It Is Written will conduct a virtual, online evangelistic event starting April 17 that will reach all of North America. Over 600 churches have joined with us in online advertising, and thousands have already registered for the meetings.
The month-long series, entitled Revelation Today: Hope Awakens, will feature Pastor John Bradshaw and present the prophetic message of the Bible while speaking to hearts burdened by anxiety, fear, and uncertainty. The interactive meetings will be viewable on mobile devices and online. Individuals are encouraged to register for the series at hopeawakens.com.
I encourage you to write a thoughtful note to your friends and family inviting them to join!
