Exodus 14:21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and all that night the Lord drove the sea back with a strong east wind and turned it into dry land. The waters were divided, 22 and the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.

Joshua 3:15 Now the Jordan is at flood stage all during harvest. Yet as soon as the priests who carried the ark reached the Jordan and their feet touched the water’s edge, 16 the water from upstream stopped flowing. It piled up in a heap a great distance away, at a town called Adam in the vicinity of Zarethan, while the water flowing down to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea) was completely cut off. So the people crossed over opposite Jericho.

Dear Church Family,

Notice the difference between the two crossings?  In the first one they waited for Moses to act, and then God acted. I get the idea that they waited for the ground to dry, then they ventured to cross over.

But the second time the priests had to walk into the water.  Maybe this is where we get the expression to “get your feet wet”?

Sometimes we find God’s will be trying something new.  I think we’ve got lots of opportunity today.  Everyone is talking about how bad the violence is, which it is.  Everyone wants to know when this pandemic will be lifted, and we all want to get past this.

But, it sure gives us an opening to say something about our faith.

As I read the gospel account, and the account of what the Apostles and Early Church did, I believe that those who were trying were guided in what to do.  Yes, there is a ‘time and a season’ for speaking up, and acting out.

Tomorrow, we are delivering baked goods to the Lomita Sheriff Station for the deputies that patrol near the church area.  And we will get around to the Fire Station just down the hill from us.

And we will continue to speak up for our faith.

God is good; we’ll be alright.

Pastor Albert
Ephesians 2:10 For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

Announcements:

Southern California Conference COVID 19 Relief Fund (Quoted from a Letter to Churches):
The Southern California Conference recognizes the financial strain that work restrictions have placed on many people throughout the conference as a result of COVID-19 shelter-in-place recommendations. In an effort to provide financial assistance to those most in need, the Southern California Conference would like to ask you to partner with us as, together, we grow a financial assistance fund that will help those who need it most at this critical time. This relief fund is intended to assist members who can demonstrate that, as a direct result of COVID-19, they have experienced a loss of income from the following: Job Loss; Job Furlough or Reduced Work Hours.

Psalms 106:8 Yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known. 9 He rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up; he led them through the depths as through a desert. 10 He saved them from the hand of the foe; from the hand of the enemy he redeemed them.
