Church News March 23

From the Pastor

Dear Church Family,

I referred to this text in my homily last Sabbath.  Here it is:

Matthew 18:10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.

From this text we get the phrase “Guardian Angel”.  Since Jesus said it, it must be so: Each of us has a (guardian) angel that has access to heaven.

May Heaven Guard Us,

Pastor Albert
4 He will cover you with his feathers,
         and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
5 You will not fear the terror of night,
nor the arrow that flies by day,
6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
nor the plague that destroys at midday.

Fasting and Prayer: I will admit it, I have a lot of feelings about the ‘new normal’.  Sometimes I’m scared; sometimes I’m angry.  Sometimes I’m hopeful; and just generally impatient and sad.  I also want to be thankful.

I want God’s help in managing my feelings and responses and activities.  So, I am going to Fast and Pray this Wednesday, and I am inviting you to join me.  If you would like to participate in some way and have prayer together that day, please send me a text or email.

Some may want to not eat the entire day.  Some eat only simple food, like bread and water, or fruit only.  Be healthy about it, of course, but sacrifice something in order to sincerely seek God’s help.

While 'fasting' is a big subject, we won't study it now.  Let’s just say that Jesus fasted and said that His disciples would when He was taken from them.

Literature & Quarterlies: In our lobby we have Lesson Quarterlies, lesson papers and a lot of good things to share with neighbors and friends.  If you would like us to mail you something, please send me an email or text message, and we will put your order into an envelope and mail it.  (Yes, I will thoroughly wash my hands before I handle anything!)
Donations: We will continue to process donations that come in.  Please mark on your check to designate funds as “Tithe” or “Church Budget” – we are encouraging this second category for all funds that stay in this church for its needs.  We can mail you some donation envelopes if you need them, too.

You can also donate online! Adventist Giving enables us to return our tithes and offerings easily, online!

Jesus was insulted at the cross:

Matthew 27:43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’

And Rescued from the Tomb:

Matthew 28:2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow.

The theme of our Sabbath Messages is "God Rescues".
