John 13:15I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.
Guest Devotional: Precious Wilson was responding to a question from Youth Pastor Christian Botello, “Who is Your Bible Hero? Why?”
Who is my Bible Hero?
My Bible Hero is Jesus. I chose Jesus as my Bible Hero, because he died on the cross, to pay for my sin. He ultimately defeated sin and death. Another thing I find really cool about Jesus, is that God tells us in the Bible through John,( John 3:16-17) that Jesus died for us unworthy humans like myself so that we can spend eternity with Him in heaven where there is harmony for all creation of GOD.
What are the actions of Jesus that influence me to become like Him?
GOD the Father shows us in the Bible through Jesus about humility. When Jesus was washing the disciples’ feet, he showed humility . When he came down to Earth, he humbled himself into a lowly human. As a student I tried to follow Jesus’s example at school. When I see one of my friends who doesn’t have a lunch, I would share half of my own lunch with that person. So, each morning I would have to tell my mom to pack a bigger lunch or an extra lunch to give away. (That was before Covid-19.)
How has Jesus used me to minister to my friends?
When I read His WORD and put it into action, He uses me as an instrument to turn more people to God.
My friend Cailin, who has never met Jesus, was very excited to go to church with me when I asked her if she could go. Unfortunately, she wasn’t able to go because we were coming from the airport to drop off my grandparents and we didn’t have enough time to pick her up.
Despite what had happened that day, I have seen how much God has used me as a vessel to guide His child, Cailin to see His light. Since we are play-mates she frequently visits our residence. When it’s time to eat, I would tell her to close her eyes and bow her head, because we had to pray. She was very confused at first, but a few weeks after that, she was comfortable praying with us and even looked forward to the short thanksgiving prayer before eating and has started to say, Amen.
She is already looking forward with as much excitement as I am when the usual Church Service will be back soon, since she will be attending church with our family. She has already been given permission by her parents.
Thank you, Jesus, for using a child like me in Your service.

New Church Secretary has begun taking the reins from Becky who has resigned her position because of her recent move to San Diego. (Louraine is pronounced, ‘luh-RAY-nee’.) We asked her to introduce herself:
Hello Church Family,
My name is Louraine Meyers. I am the new Church Secretary here at Rolling Hills. I recently retired after 40+ years in medical office administration, the last 14 years in oncology practice management.
I grew up in Northern California and attended Golden Gate Academy and Oakwood University in Huntsville Alabama. I am blessed to have two amazing sons and five beautiful grandchildren. Outside of work, I enjoy music, reading, journaling, traveling and spending time with my family. My church membership is at the Breath of Life SDA Church in Inglewood and I often attend Rolling Hills because it is close to my home in San Pedro. My family is fourth generation Adventist, my great-grandmother joined the church in the late 1800’s. My paternal grandmother was instrumental in organizing the first African-American Seventh Day Adventist church in Northern California.
Becky patiently trained me for my responsibilities as the church secretary for Pastor Albert. It will take time to learn all the little details, but she has graciously made herself available for any inquiries while I’m settling in.
Thanking you in advance for your prayers and support.

Outdoor Church: The California State rules on church gatherings allow for us to meet outdoors, we thought we would share this picture. Recent weather has been very warm, but we enjoyed fellowshipping with one another.
Parking Lot Lights are being installed. We have come across something called, in the construction business, “Unforeseen Circumstances”! It turns out that the base of a light fixtures, made of concrete and iron reinforcing rods, are supposed to be deep. Our existing ones are much too shallow. We couldn’t ‘see’ how far down they went until we put up a new light post and it turned out to be a bit unstable. Yes, this may mean a delay, and more expense. Sometimes that’s just the way it goes.
If you have a blessing to share with the church, please send us your message to include in our next newsletter!

This is the perfect time to share more uplifting messages online: if you have any social media accounts, follow and share post, messages, and comments with and from our church accounts on Facebook, Instagram, our youth Instagram, our local conference page. There are many people online who may not come to church, but may see a message that will encourage them to seek Christ.
