Dear Church Family:

“Steps to Christ” Study:

The book, Steps to Christ, was highly recommended to us by Pastor Morris Venden.  In a sermon, he told us his story about wanting to quit.  He said religion, as he knew it, was powerless and pointless (my recollection of his story).  Such an important decision should be deliberate.  Somehow, he decided to read the book, Steps to Christ, in order to help make up his mind.

After reading it through, he was still undecided.  So, he decided to read it through one more time.  This time he would underline the passages that were clearly something he could do.  It had to be understandable.

It revolutionized his ministry.  And when I followed his example, it lightened my load so much!  It makes following Jesus easy, simple and fruitful.

When this pandemic hit, with the full weight of “close your church”, I felt like one of the maidens who had been sleeping when the call came, “Here’s the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!” (Matthew 25:1 – 13) But, having prepared, I knew how to wake up.  I am more fully engaged in prayer and Bible reading; I am reaching for Jesus as a Friend and Guide.  Jesus is gracious and good.  I am enjoying my devotional time; prayer is a blessing and fellowship with believers (you) is sweet.

I am inviting you to study Steps to Christ with me for six sessions, one per week.  If you are interested, I am including a link for you to download lesson #1, “God’s Love for Man”.

Email me if you are interested.  If you cannot download the lesson, let me know and I will email you one, in the email, for you to read and answer the questions.  We will have an online class and, perhaps, prayer partners and Q and A sessions.

100 Days of Prayer:

I signed up to participate in this world church devotional exercise.  By email, once per day, I get a reminder to pray, scripture promises to claim, a devotional thought, and the opportunity to join others in prayer and fellowship.  If you are looking for a daily devotional this is a great place to start.

To begin, and sign up: http://www.revivalandreformation.org/100days

As part of the 100 Days of Prayer, we are called to fast and pray this Sabbath.  From the daily messages there is this invitation:
Since this coming Sabbath is the 2nd Quarter day of prayer and fasting, you might wonder how should I fast. If you are wondering how to begin fasting, the following document will give some practical inspiration and suggestions as well as tips for doing the “Daniel’s Fast.” As Derek Morris says, “We fast from the world so that we can feast on Jesus.” May God will bless your sincere efforts to clear distractions away so you can have a closer deeper walk with Him.

“Hear the word of the LORD, you nations;
         proclaim it in distant coastlands:
         ‘He who scattered Israel will gather them
         and will watch over his flock
like a shepherd.’

  • Due to the contagious COVID-19, we are closing our church through the month of April or until this threat is contained. Learn more here. To learn about how God deals with infections diseases, read Leviticus 13.
Important News: “Financial Help”:  The Church Board has set aside funds to help those in our church family who have been financially impacted by the pandemic.  If you would like to receive such help, please contact one of the Elders directly (Betsy Adams, Raymond Barnes, Janet Barnhill, Janet Lui, Dahlma Osborne), or call me, Pastor Albert, at the Church Office.  There are details and a process so that this will be confidential and smooth.  We want to be helpful.

When God has given us light showing the dangers before us, how can we stand clear in His sight if we neglect to put forth every effort in our power to bring it before the people? Can we be content to leave them to meet this momentous issue unwarned?
In this age of technology, we don't want to neglect sharing hopeful messages online, which is so much more important while we practice physical distancing, with all the extroverts dying for lack of in-person socializing. If you spend time on social media—Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, and others—share messages to point people to Christ. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram, and talk to Nathan about how you can help publish inspiring content on our church social media pages and our website.
We previously shared are article, Surviving the Flu: How Adventist Beat the Spanish Flu in 1918, which talks about how Adventist used hydrotherapy treatments in combatting the flu. Listen to this doctor's research on how it can be beneficial in treating COVID-19 before hospitals are willing to admit patients (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H1LHgyfPPQ8). For learning about more hydrotherapy methods yourself, here are some video resources: https://rhsda.org/hydrotherapy-how-tos/.
 Online Giving: did you know you can return your tithes and offerings online?  Adventist Giving enables us to return our tithes and offerings online easily.  Go to Adventist Giving
He tends his flock like a shepherd:
He gathers the lambs in his arms
and carries them close to his heart;
he gently leads those that have young.
